Horror Movies to Watch during This ‘Quarantine’ Edition of Halloween

October is coming to an end, which means Halloween is just around the corner! If you’re in the mood for a scream-fest marathon this upcoming spooky season, we’ve listed down some must-watch horror flicks that center around the themes of ‘isolation’ and ‘survival’ – a nod to the real global pandemic that we’re currently experiencing in real life. So grab your snacks and enjoy!

1. #Alive (2020): Set in Seoul, a savvy PC gamer struggles for survival as he is forced to stay alone in his apartment complex when a zombie apocalypse occurs. An American remake titled ‘Alone’ follows the same premise.

2. REC (2008): This Spanish film follows a news reporter and her crew covering a firefighter intervention at an apartment building in Barcelona. Things take an unexpected turn as the crew finds themselves confined in the perilous building with a virus taking over of the building’s occupants. FUN FACT: This movie sparked the movement of the ‘found footage’ genre in horror films.

3. A Quiet Place (2018): A plot that revolves around a family trying to survive a post-apocalyptic world that’s inhabited by noise-sensitive aliens.

4. The Shining (1980): Jack Nicholson stars as Jack, an aspiring writer who takes an off-season position as a caretaker of a historic remote hotel. While living in isolation, Jack starts getting possessed by the hotel’s supernatural forces. What follows is a downward spiral into insanity to the horror of his poor family. This cult classic was based on Stephen King’s novel under the same name.
